Rhyme & reason
But how do you ensure your gift is really special? One way is to make it personal. Follow the example of J.K. Rowling who recently produced a few copies of a handwritten, illustrated novel for her closest friends.
You could choose a poem for someone close and copy it onto handmade paper. If you can draw or paint you could illustrate the poem, or alternatively use items such as pressed flowers or dried leaves.
Arts & crafts
Traditional crafts are making a comeback, with knitting, sewing and embroidery coming into the spotlight like never before. Modern yarns mean homespun knits can be quick and easy to create. The internet is full of helpful advice, so what's stopping you?
Creative kids
Get the kids involved too; grandparents always love to receive anything made by their little treasures. Encourage children to write a story and draw a picture to go with it, or you could frame paint prints of your children's hands and feet and give those with matching greetings cards.
Go nuts, get fruity
Everybody loves home cooking, and cakes and cookies are a sure-fire way to please your loved ones. Children love to join in with a rolling pin and cookie cutter. Making batches of cookies, and wrapping them in pretty paper with ribbons attached is a great way to show you care. And they make a lovely treat for your colleagues at work, or for the kids at school. Plus using Becel/Flora avoids the saturated fats of butter.
So get to work and show your loving side to add a personal touch to your gifts this season.
