"Every day we aim to improve relationships with our partners by constantly enhancing the way we manage our information systems and technical platforms. At the same time, we create new opportunities for growth in an aggressively competitive environment."

In a world where the importance of communication is increasing daily, IT people need to be ready to deliver ideas and tools that improve existing systems. Through influencing the rest of the business about the importance of these new technologies, we also create value for all Unilever stakeholders. IT literacy is another very important area where we need to focus special attention. People are the most valuable company asset. We need to help them improve their skills so they can make the most of new opportunities.

Here in Portugal we have the chance to build something new and better. Basically we are involved in defining new rules and roles for the whole organisation. As Information & Technology Manager, I can really make a difference to the way we exploit the benefits of IT.

For example, as a Project Implementation Manager of the Interdependency project I was challenged to deliver a completely new information systems environment for our companies in Portugal. The size and implications of the project made it extremely demanding. More than 700 users were directly affected by this project and the companies' processes were also fully adapted to the new business reality.
