It's challenging to work in an environment in which people are driven to succeed. I find it very motivating because I expect the same from myself and those I work with.

During an advertising congress, one of Unilever's marketing directors spoke on Surf detergent. The meteoric rise of the brand against a tough competitor was quite a feat and I was interested to know more about the brand and the company behind it. From that day, the company intrigued me. Soon afterwards I had the opportunity to be interviewed for a position with Unilever. I was challenged to work for a company, which is one of the fastest growing in the Philippines. It has been growing by about 20% annually and has tripled its size of business in the past five years.

"In my first eight months, I attended five training courses. It enables me to see how I handle my current responsibilities and use the tools and techniques I learn to improve my work. Currently I am managing the innovations, brand communication and financials of Domex Home Cleaner, as well as assisting the Marketing Manager with crafting the strategy behind the brand. I have found the management to be very supportive and despite the challenges, I am enjoying my work. I was pleasantly surprised at how welcoming the people were. I know it can be very difficult for mid-career recruits to join new companies and was prepared for the worst! But so far so good.
