While some companies are so process-oriented that their structure can potentially kill the personal drive, at Unilever we are successful because of the diversity of our people. In Unilever I found an environment where you, as a person, can make the difference with your own ‘style’. I often found people encouraging me to do things my way and to think outside the box.

I am Product Development Manager and Technical Project Leader for Domestos in the household cleaning category. My work is very varied, along with the marketing project leader, we co-ordinate and lead teams of people to successfully bring innovation projects to life.

This not only means being responsible for the formulation of new detergents (which is the technical part of the job), but also interacting and working together with a number of different functions within Unilever to make things happen: marketing, research, packaging, process, supply chain, buying, factories, local companies, commercial and many more.

The job is never the same from one day to another: I could hardly try and describe a ‘standard’ day at work, as there really isn't one. In my opinion, this is how an ideal job should be. Diverse and challenging every day.

In my spare time I play the piano (both classical and pop music). I have done so since I was five years old. I studied at the Conservatory, although, I had to stop when I was only two years away from my Professor title. A pity, but nevertheless I am still very much into music and play for my friends and myself. Occasionally I play in pubs with a Blues band.
