I was first attracted to Unilever by its reputation for sound and innovative science, and its reputation as an excellent employer. I have to say I have certainly not been disappointed!
My team is committed to occupational, consumer and environmental safety. As toxicology safety assessors, we are responsible for the safety evaluation of Unilever products across all our businesses. This is a very challenging and responsible job as the future of new Unilever products is in our hands. Working with such a diverse group of people constantly stretches my mind and encourages me to develop my thinking in several ways. The work programme is also very varied, from hands-on practical projects to futuristic visionary projects, looking at what we will need to do our job in 10-20 years time.
I have been encouraged to maintain my academic links, resulting in my appointment as chairperson of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Occupational and Environmental Toxicology Group and committee member of the Scientific Subcommittee of the British Toxicology Society.
