Without the vast life-giving forests that blanket our pale blue dot, our beautiful planet wouldn’t exist - and we wouldn’t be here to enjoy it. To feed the world’s ever growing population, there’s an increasing demand for agricultural commodities, such as palm oil, soy, paper and space to raise cattle, which is resulting in those vital forests vanishing at an unprecedented rate. So we need to step up and save our forests to be able to save our planet.
As one of the world’s largest buyers of palm oil, we’re in a position to make a real positive impact on the ground by helping farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices. To ensure we’re accountable for our palm oil requirements, we’re working towards sourcing 100% of our palm oil sustainably by the end of 2019. To help achieve this goal, we were the first consumer goods company this year to publish all our palm oil suppliers – a breakthrough in transparency in the palm oil industry.
But there are a lot of forests to save and we can’t do it alone. So a big part of reaching our 2020 zero net deforestation goal is by working with governments and other partners to inspire change across the entire industry. Our scale allows us to be leaders and figureheads, capable of converting other companies to a more environmentally friendly way of using our planet’s precious resources.
With your help, and by encouraging the whole industry to set high sustainability standards, we can save our forests.
Together, we can protect the part of the planet that protects us.
