Helping young people realise they’re beautiful just the way they are

From social media celebrities to the picture-perfect world of fashion, we’re bombarded by unrealistic ideas of beauty, which can lead to feelings of low self-esteem and anxiety. The Dove Self-Esteem Project provides teachers, parents and youth leaders with valuable resources (created with body image experts and leading universities, including psychologists from the Centre for Appearance Research at the University of the West of England) to show young people just how awesome their bodies already are.

Being proud of yourself with Dove

We’re on a global mission to increase girls body confidence. That’s why we’ve partnered with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) to get the programme out to as many young people as possible. We developed Our Free Being Me programme directly with the WAGGGS, and since kicking off in 2013 it’s helped 4 million girls in over 129 countries wake up each morning feeling that little bit more confident and given them the advocacy skills to take action.

2018 saw the Self-Esteem Project being taken to some new and exciting places. By partnering with Cartoon Network’s critically acclaimed Steven Universe, Dove aims to reach even more young people with 6 short films and a personalized e-book available in 13 countries around the world.
