From head to toe across our business, we’re striving to make a world in which every woman and girl can create the kind of life she wishes to lead.
A thriving society is one where women have equal access to rights, skills and opportunities. Women are our main consumers and we owe a lot of our success to them. So we’ve been working hard to help women across our business fully unleash their potential. As of 2017, nearly 50% of our management, 45% of our non-executive board and almost a third of our executive team, are women. Which is a good start, but we’ve still got a way to go.
To create a truly equal and inclusive society, it’s vital we work to remove old-fashioned gender stereotypes and norms. That’s why, in 2017, we joined forces with UN Women to launch the Unstereotype Alliance, which aims to eradicate harmful gender-based stereotypes by using advertising as a force for good.
Many of our brands work with girls and women in finding fulfilling opportunities and careers. For example, in 2017, the Brilhante Shine Academy in Brazil supported nearly 35,000 women with the entrepreneurial tools and training. And in 2016 and 2017 TRESemmé worked with LEVO to provide millennial women with resources to help equip them with workplace ‘presence’.
We’re fully aware that the road to true equality is a long one that’s never going to run in a straight direction. But it’s a road we’re on together, and by continuing to scrub, sip, rinse and clean with our brands, you’re helping to drive female empowerment and equal rights.
