Help eradicate maternal and infant mortality in Nigeria
Nigeria has a poor history of maternal healthcare. In 2017, the country’s annual maternal death count stood at 67,000 and accounted for a staggering 23% of maternal deaths globally.
What can we do about it?
Mothers Delivery Kit is a social enterprise that works in rural communities across Nigeria, promoting and enhancing safe births and empowering women.
As a previous Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards winner, we’ve helped this enterprise develop and grow through our unique programme of funding, training and mentoring.
Mothers Delivery Kit has now been able to reach over 1 million mothers and their babies with sterile delivery kits. And through its NGO, Brown Button Foundation, it has organised training for thousands of Traditional Birth Attendants and Community Health Extension Workers in Nigeria.
It’s thanks to the work of organisations like this one that Nigerian maternal and infant mortality rates are improving. There’s still some way to go – join us today and support the life-changing work of this social enterprise.
