Take the Second Hand September pledge with Oxfam
Throwaway fashion is putting increasing pressure on our planet and its people – it’s unsustainable. Every week 13 million items of clothing ends up in UK landfill. And did you know it would take 13 years for one person to drink the water needed to make one cotton t-shirt and a pair of jeans?
What can we do about it?
Choosing second hand is one way we can shift to more sustainable consumption, so Oxfam has launched #SecondHandSeptember to get us to think twice about the clothes we buy.
Join the challenge and pledge to shop only second hand for 30 days or more. You’ll give clothes a longer life by keeping them from landfill. And by shopping with Oxfam, you’ll be reinvesting your money into helping the poorest people on the planet earn a fair living and beat poverty.
Join Oxfam and only buy second-hand clothes for the month of September. And why not keep it going after September? You can challenge yourself to a 30-day stint of only buying second hand at any point... or even do it for a whole year!
