Do you want to join Ben & Jerry’s core?
Ben & Jerry’s is going global in its search for bright young social entrepreneurs in its third annual Join Our Core competition.
The core details
The competition, run in partnership with business investor Ashoka, is looking to find and support 11 young people aged 18– 34 from across Asia and Europe who are creating a new type of business for a changing world.
Launching on 1 September, Join Our Core isonce again open in the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands – and for the first time three more countries have been added to the line-up: France, Japan and Singapore.
One winner from each country will receive a €10,000 cash investment for their business as well as social business mentoring from Ashoka and a trip to Ben & Jerry’s headquarters in Vermont in the US.
Every business will also be featured on a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream tub in 2015.
Making a difference
Jerry Greenfield, co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s, says: “What’s really important to me is that Ben & Jerry’s continues to grow its impact on society. We’re proud to partner with Ashoka, who’ve been instrumental to make this programme truly impactful and supportive of these entrepreneurs.”
A shortlist of finalists will be invited to London, Tokyo or Singapore to pitch their projects to an expert panel, for the chance to be crowned one of the Join Our Core 2014 winners.
Additionally, the first 100 people submitting entries by 19 September will each scoop a year’s supply of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.
To coincide with the project and to celebrate last year’s winners, Ben & Jerry’s is also releasing a new flavour called Dough-ble Impact. Each of 2013’s winners has been rewarded by having their business’s logo featured on the front of every single tub.
