Magnum is taking luxury to the next level with a unique 24-karat gold dress created by designer Zac Posen to celebrate the launch of Magnum Gold?! in the US.

The couture gown, which is valued at $1.5 million, is covered in more than 10 thousand hand-embroidered 24K gold sequins in five different sizes that took two weeks to sew onto the delicate fabric.

Zac says: "I’m naturally drawn to luxury and love to push my creativity, so the design process of creating a couture dress made of gold was thrilling. I pulled inspiration from Magnum Gold?! for the dress design… the train reminds me of melting ice cream. The dress is so decadent."

Magnum Gold?! is made of vanilla bean ice cream swirled with sea salt caramel and dipped in a golden coat made of Belgian milk chocolate.

Captured on film

The dazzling gown made its debut in a short original film As Good as Gold, which was specially made to bring the decadence of Magnum Gold?! ice cream to life.

Directed by Emmy award winner Jon Cassar and starring actors Joe Manganiello and Caroline Correa, the film tells the story of a gold thief who falls for the beautiful but dangerous lady in Posen’s 24K gold dress. The thief finds out the hard way that all bets are off when it comes to women who pursue pleasures that are as good as gold.

"I love a woman who’s not afraid to go after what she wants," says Joe. "In the film, Caroline’s character steals my heart and gold, all in pursuit of the pleasures of Magnum Gold?!"

Lighting up the red carpet

As Good as Gold was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival on 18 April in New York where Correa shimmered in the dress on the red carpet. It was also simultaneously released to viewers around the world on the Magnum Facebook page facebook.com/magnumLink.
