Join Knorr and the World Food Programme and make difference on 16 October

Knorr share a meal

We believe in a world where everyone has access to nutritious food – ending hunger is one of the UN Global Goals which we’re working to make happen to create a brighter future for everyone. However, the reality is that one in four people globally are still not receiving the nutrition they need to live a healthy life.

That’s why Knorr is continuing to partner with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to create a movement to ensure nutritious food is within everyone’s reach.

Cook, donate, join in

To celebrate World Food Day (16 October 2015), the partners are inviting everyone around the world to #shareameal with someone in their community. This could mean cooking for others in your community, or donating food or time to a local food bank or food-related charity.

As part of its commitment that nutritious and delicious food should be within everyone’s reach, Knorr is continuing to help WFP provide another 1 million nutritious, cooked school meals in many countries around the world, as part of the Home Grown School Meals programme.

These meals provide essential nutrition and an incentive to attend school, helping to provide an education to many of the 58 million children around the globe, more than half of them girls, who usually do not attend lessons.

Working towards Global Goal 2

Knorr and WFP aim to nourish the lives of adolescents, particularly girls whose needs are often overlooked, so they can become the change-makers of tomorrow – in their families and communities. The initiative aims to break the cycle of poverty, and tackle UN Global Goal 2: Zero Hunger.

World Food Day marks the two-year anniversary of this high-impact, long-term global partnership between Knorr and WFP, which will enable more adolescents to transform their own futures.

Cathryn Sleight, Senior Vice President, Knorr, says: “With your support, we will help address important global issues such as food security. Together with the World Food Programme, Knorr is giving more people the opportunity to reach their full potential and creating a community which believes in the importance of nutritious food being accessible to more people.

“As one of the world’s largest cooking brands, we have the scale and expertise to make a difference, and help unlock more flavour and goodness from everyday food through nutritious cooking.”
