Promoting and sustaining peace
Forty young people from across Unilever attended One Young World, connecting with others from 196 countries to discuss and develop solutions to the most pressing global challenges.
Peace and reconciliation were the big topics explored at this year's summit, which was held in Bogotá, Colombia – the same country that only last year signed its revised landmark peace agreement.
A stake in a better future
Fleur Osté, a Marketing Trainee in our Rotterdam office and part of our Future Leaders Programme, says the event provided real food for thought when it comes to new ideas around tackling global issues. “It really inspired me to be even more socially responsible and has improved my capacity for leadership."
CEO Paul Polman and our Chief HR Officer, Leena Nair, also attended the event. Paul spoke about the importance of young people in driving forward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), referring to the audience as 'the SDG generation'. "Young people like you have a stake in a better future and should play an active role in achieving it. We need you to be the change agents, to mobilise others."
