Elfried Samba joins Unilever at the FIFA World Cup 2026™

We invited Elfried Samba, one of social media’s most influential voices on creators and community, to take a look behind the scenes of Unilever’s biggest-ever sports partnership, the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
In June I flew to New York to see first hand how Unilever built its biggest sports partnership to date as the Official Personal Care Sponsor of the FIFA World Cup 2026™. For me, the really interesting bit about Unilever’s sponsorship is not just that it showed up. It’s how it built the machine.
From the outside you see the football, the logos, the content and the brand moments. But behind the scenes there’s so much more at play. TV, social, creators, retail, fan experiences and match-day moments all moving at the same time.
The challenge Unilever is rising to during the tournament is in making something global feel personal, and that’s where creators come in. Because scale is great. But scale without relevance is just expensive noise.
I visited Unilever’s House of Fresh™, where creators are given countless moments worth sharing, from a chance to personalise shirts, score goals and meet players through to match-day experiences. And when creators are posting beyond the requirement because the experience is genuinely worth sharing, that is where we start to see a growth system.
This isn’t about one single sponsorship moment. It’s becoming thousands of pieces of content from creators across multiple markets – all driving relevance, desire and ultimately sales. And that’s why it should matter to investors.
Brands don’t interrupt the feed. They become part of it.

Every corner of House of Fresh™ in New York gives creators moments worth sharing – something to do, something to make, something to wear. The charm station and accessories bar got people making something personal. The product wall made brands like Dove, Axe and Rexona feel present but not forced. Panini-style stickers, custom shirts, AI fit creation, the Sweat Club and content moments everywhere.
The best activations don’t make creators ask what they should be posting. They make it almost impossible not to post. House of Fresh™ isn’t just a great-looking creator space. It’s a brand activation built to spark commercial value through creators.

This is where the machine starts producing value, and commercially it’s brilliant. Because the best activations don’t make creators ask what they should be posting. They make it almost impossible not to post.
House of Fresh™ isn’t just a great-looking creator space. It’s a brand activation built to spark commercial value through creators. Because when creators naturally want to film, wear, share and talk about the products, you are not just buying reach. You are increasing the chance of cultural relevance, desire and a stronger path to conversion. When the experience does the job, brands don’t interrupt the feed. They become part of it.
Why creators make commercial sense
Sponsorship gives you reach. Creators give you relevance. And relevance is what makes people care enough to act. It moves the content forward.
Different countries, different communities, different languages, different ways of seeing the same moment. Creators don’t just distribute content. They translate meaning. They understand the humour, the context, the audience, the cultural codes that make people care. And the same global moment can become culturally relevant in hundreds of different ways.
That’s the difference between broadcasting and earning attention. Broadcasting says, ‘Look at us’. Creator-led marketing says, ‘Here’s why this matters to you’. And when you get that right, it doesn't stop at engagement. It builds desire, builds trust, drives sales and generates growth.
So, this wasn’t just sponsorship. It was a system built for creators across the board. Unilever built the machine. House of Fresh™ was the engine. Creators made it travel.
Frequently asked questions
What is creator marketing?
Creator marketing is a partnership-based approach where brands collaborate with content creators who bring authentic audience relationships and cultural relevance to brand storytelling. Unlike traditional advertising or sponsored posts, creator marketing emphasises collaborative content development where creators maintain genuine creative expression. What is Unilever’s House of Fresh™ at the FIFA World Cup 2026™?
House of Fresh™ (or Casa Fresh in Mexico) is a trio of Unilever Personal Care’s creator brand hubs, open during the FIFA World Cup 2026™ in New York, Miami and Mexico City.
