IgloMora to sell Van Lieshout meat snacks

IgloMora, a Unilever subsidiary, plans to sell part of its snack activities, Van Lieshout Vleessnacks (Meat Snacks). This involves the Van Lieshout brand and a factory in Helmond.

The factory, which produces solely meat snacks, employs 120 people. Sales to third parties amount to €20 million. As a result of the proposed sale some 20 jobs at the head office of the IgloMora Groep will be lost, but this will not give rise to any compulsory dismissals.

The IgloMora Groep is active with brands such as Van Lieshout and Mora in the area of quick-frozen snacks which are sold both via supermarkets and in the on-premise trade. For the supermarket channel, in which Mora is the market leader for quick-frozen snacks, nothing will change. The further expansion of the position of the Mora brand in both channels will be supported by substantial investments in the Mora brand and in the two other snack factories (in Maastricht and in Mol, Belgium).

Van Lieshout Vleessnacks is the market leader for fricandelles in the on-premise channel. Van Lieshout is a highly profitable business; the success of Van Lieshout is largely based on small-scale production and its considerable share of private-label products. The proposed sale fits in with Unilever’s Path to Growth strategy, which is focused on a limited number of leading brands in selected core categories.
