Prakash is Unilever’s Chief Legal Officer and Group Company Secretary and a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive. He is responsible for the Group’s Legal, Regulatory, Governance, Company Secretariat, Intellectual Property and Business Integrity functions.
Before his appointment, Prakash was General Counsel, Corporate and Deputy Group Secretary at Unilever, leading Group Legal and Governance across the organisation and providing strong strategic guidance on multiple M&A processes and other major enterprise priorities, including the separation and listing of the Ice Cream business, as well as treasury, regulatory, corporate finance and ESG matters.
Prior to joining Unilever, Prakash held senior governance and legal roles at BHP Group and Barclays plc, supporting boards and executive teams through significant corporate, regulatory and organisational change.
He began his career at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, advising UK-listed and multinational clients on complex M&A, capital markets and governance issues. He also worked with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, gaining experience within the EMEA Corporate and Investment Banking team.
Prakash is a solicitor (England and Wales) and holds a law degree from King’s College London.
In addition to his executive role, Prakash is a member of the Financial Reporting Council’s Pre-Emption Group, an elected member of the Law Society’s Company Law Committee and a member of the GC100.
