Ben & Jerry’s names Join Our Core 2014 winners
Young social entrepreneurs from eleven countries have scooped the top prizes in Ben & Jerry’s Join Our Core competition 2014, run in conjunction with global social enterprise networking organisation Ashoka.

In this year’s final, held in London, Singapore and Tokyo, finalists from eleven countries across Europe and Asia went head to head with their bright sustainable business ideas that will help to make a difference to communities around the world.
After pitching their idea to an expert panel, one winner from each of the 11 countries were chosen. The winners each receive a €10,000 investment, tailored business mentoring from Ashoka, the trip of a lifetime to Ben & Jerry’s HQ in Vermont, and their project will also be linked to a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavour over the next year.

Vandebron is an online energy marketplace which allows anyone who generates renewable energy to sell their yield directly to consumers.
Dot Dot Dot is a housing social enterprise that lets people who do great volunteering live as property guardians in buildings that would otherwise be empty.
FoodCloud is an innovative virtual food bank that connects businesses that have too much food with charities that have too little.
Shifo is on a mission to improve child health by ensuring that every child is registered to receive life-saving vaccines. They have developed MyChild information and a support system to address one of the root causes of child mortality from vaccine-preventable diseases.
Comeback Industries is an incubation hub that helps marginalised youth develop their skills, confidence and mindset to be successful entrepreneurs.
Bulb in Town is a civic engagement platform that brings the power back to local communities and helps projects come to life.
FoodLoop is a platform that offers the food retail industry the first channel to promote discounted ‘best before date’ deals in real time on an app.
Ruffboards is a longboard brand from Vienna that produces uniquely designed, upcycled boards with a soul – mindful of people and the planet.
Eaternity aims to provide everyone with access to a climate-friendly diet. Through life-cycle analysis of ingredients, they help restaurants and consumers make climate-friendly food choices.
HUBchari is a community bike-share which aims to solve two of Osaka’s major social problems: homelessness and a high number of abandoned bicycles. Homeless people are trained to carry out bicycle repairs, which earns them money, helps them get out of the poverty trap and addresses the stigma of homelessness.
Playmoolah demystifies money by designing and delivering educational, digital, and community experiences that inspire a transformation in how people perceive wealth beyond a person’s financial net worth.
