years to limit global warming to 1.5C
Within three generations the UK climate could resemble that of Southern Italy, with fires and flash floods, but combined with harsh 'Beast from the East' cold spells. It has never been a more urgent time to act.
#YesPlantsCan was started by Seventh Generation and Plantlife at the end of 2018 to call on the government to deliver on its promise to create or restore 500,000 hectares of species rich habitat by 2043. You can help put plants back on the climate change agenda by signing the petition and asking your family and friends to do the same.
The campaign launched in the famously eco-friendly city of Brighton, celebrating the power of plants with a giant replica of the Brighton Pavilion made entirely of plants. For a whole day Seventh Generation and Plantlife activists braved a cold November day to raise more than 500 signatures for the YesPlantsCan petition. There are now more than 2,000 people who have joined the movement, but this not enough, Seventh Generation needs your help.
Seventh Generation's mission in the UK is to harness the power of plants to fight climate change and help limit global warming to less than 1.5°C. Working with plant-conservation charity Plantlife, Seventh Generation commissioned research by climate change scientist Mark Maslin. The report highlights that plants could account for over a third (37%) of the required cuts by 2050 under the UK Climate Change Act.
Sign our petition today and join the fight to put plants back on the climate change agenda.
