10,000 changes helping Canadians tackle the plastics problem

The issue

Plastic has made our lives more affordable, convenient and energy-efficient – and we’ve come to depend on it.

While it has a place as a versatile and useful material, it has no place in our oceans, rivers, streets and countryside. According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, each minute, the equivalent of one rubbish truck of plastic leaks into streams and rivers, ultimately ending up in oceans.

What can we do about it?

To solve the plastics problem, every one of us must make changes in our daily lives.

Whether this is changing the way we shop, refusing single-use plastics, choosing natural fabrics or swapping to reusable alternatives, it’s possible to create change with small, simple commitments.

To get inspired, head to the 10,000 Changes website and explore many ways to address plastic pollution and see the impact it will have. Sign your name to the actions you will take to help reduce plastic waste.
