1.These Terms

1.1 These Contest Terms & Conditions (which include the Contest Details) set out the basis for participating in the Contest identified below.

1.2 By entering or participating in the Contest you agree to these Contest Terms & Conditions.

1.3 A Privacy Notice provided in connection with these Contest Terms & Conditions should be regarded as part of these Contest Terms & Conditions.

Contest

The contest is about 3 Innovation Challenges to shape the Future of Digital Commerce in Ice Cream together:

Challenge 1: Fast Food Chains

The challenge is to find ways to make ice cream an integral part of the meal experience at the start of the consumer journey when they enter the Food Chain or Aggregator ordering page to place their order.

Challenge 2: Online Ice Cream

The challenge is to find new online channels/ways to make Ice Cream accessible and visible to all consumers that have a craving in the moment”

Challenge 3: Local restaurants

The challenge is to find a solution to recruit and engage new local restaurants at scale.

From pizza joints to burger spots and fried chicken havens, we want to make sure our ice creams find a sweet spot on their menus.”

This contest aims to gather ideas and business plans from individuals and companies who are interested in tackling the challenges the Digital Commerce team in Unilever Ice Cream faces. We believe that by collaborating and creating innovative solutions, we can change the world and shape the future.

Entry instructions

Idea submission:

  • To participate, interested individuals or teams must enter their idea for the contest by visiting our contest website unilever.com/brands/ice-cream/innovation-through-collaboration
  • Complete the registration form, providing accurate contact information and confirming your acceptance of the contest terms and conditions.

Proposal Guidelines:

  • Develop a detailed proposal outlining your idea or business plan related to one or more of the three challenges mentioned.
  • The proposal should be submitted in English and must include the following sections:
  • a. Idea description: Provide a concise overview of your idea or business plan.
  • b. Problem Statement: Clearly articulate the specific challenge(s) your proposal aims to address.
  • c. Solution Description: Present your innovative solution, explaining how it addresses the problem(s) identified.
  • d. Implementation Strategy: Outline the steps required to bring your idea or business plan to life, including key milestones and what would be needed to implement the idea in a timely manner.
  • e. Potential Impact: Highlight the potential positive outcomes and benefits of your proposal.
  • f. Resource Requirements: Specify any necessary resources, such as funding, expertise, or partnerships, needed for successful implementation.
  • g. Supporting Materials: Include any relevant visuals, diagrams, or supplementary information to enhance your proposal.

Prize(s)

For each challenge there will be 1 winner who will win the following prizes:

  1. Voucher from Uber Eats with value of 500 EUROS to be able to order Ice Cream (if Uber Eats is not available in the respective market, we will provide a voucher of the same value of an alternative rapid grocery delivery service)
  2. Meeting with Unilever Ice Cream Digital Commerce team to discuss the idea, business plan, possible next steps and possibility for collaboration in case relevant.
  3. Digital certificate for ‘Best Disruptive Idea’

Selecting Winner(s)

Determining Prize winner(s):

  • A panel of judges comprising experts from Unilever Ice Cream Digital Commerce Team and Innoleaps B.V. will review and evaluate all submissions.
  • In order to select the best idea the idea submissions will be assessed based on the following criteria: feasibility, potential impact, and alignment with the contest's challenges and objectives.
  • 1 winner per challenge will be selected.
  • Winners will be chosen manually after careful consideration.

Entrant Requirements

Min age: 18

No territorial restrictions.

Excluded Entrants

Any of the following:

  1. Agents, distributors and other organisations commercially connected to the Promoter;
  2. Employees and directors of the Promoter, including their families and co-habitors;

Opening/Closing Date for Entries

Idea Submission Opening Date: 20th of June

Idea Submission Closing Date Extended: 31st of August

Notification of Winning

Notification of winning:

  • Winners will be notified via e-mail
  • October 2nd – Winners informed

3. Contest Basis

3.1 This Contest is:

a. open to those meeting the Entrant Requirements;

b. not open to those falling within the description of Excluded Entrants (even if they meet the Entrant Requirements).

3.2 You must follow the Entry Instructions.

3.3 You may submit as many entries as you like for all challenges, even where entering on behalf of others.Entries must not be automatically generated by computer or otherwise submitted on an inappropriate basis (for example using multiple names, email or social media accounts to enter).

3.4 You may win one Prize per challenge.

3.5 The Promoter may at any time extend, suspend or terminate the Contest on reasonable cause (which may or may not relate to an entrant).

4. Entries

4.1 Entries that (i) do not comply with these Contest Terms & Conditions; or (ii) are incomplete, corrupted or late, may be rejected, disqualified, removed and/or deleted by the Promoter.

4.2 Your entry includes any materials provided as part of or in relation to that entry. Where entry to the Contest involves provision of written, recorded, pictorial or other material in electronic or other form, you must ensure your entry:

a. is (i) suitable for public access and in particular does not contain nudity, pornographic, religiously/culturally/politically insensitive, defamatory or violent content; and (ii) not in breach of the applicable laws;

b. is your own work and does not contain any intellectual property of another party unless you have the necessary permissions for its provision and use, reproduction and other dealing in accordance with these Contest Terms & Conditions (including Clause 4.3 below);

c. only contains someone’s name or likeness if they have provided written permission (permission from parents/legal guardians required for under 18s).

4.3 By submitting your entry you acknowledge that ideas and concepts, including those in your entry, are not eligible for protection under intellectual property law and shall be considered part of the public domain and that Promoter is free to use such ideas and concepts. In the event that any part of your entry is protected under intellectual property law, you waive any moral rights that you may have and grant the Promoter (ii) a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, sub-licensable and transferable right to use, reproduce, distribute, and make derivative works of your entry for any purpose and via any channel.

4.4 Nothing in these terms and conditions shall be construed as providing a commitment of any kind on either party to enter into any further agreement or project relating to the entry idea.

5. Responsibility for Entries

5.1 If you are submitting an entry on behalf of more than one person/party (including on behalf of an organisation), you must ensure that you have authority to accept these terms on their behalf and ensure they comply with these terms.

5.2 You must comply with these Contest Terms & Conditions and not otherwise unlawfully seek to misuse or tamper with the processes and rules of the Contest.

5.3 You must indemnify and defend the Promoter and other members of the Unilever group (including their respective directors, officers and employees) in respect of all liabilities, losses and damages of any kind resulting from your breach of these Contest Terms & Conditions. The Promoter excludes responsibility for those liabilities, losses and damages, although nothing in these Contest Terms & Conditions is intended to limit the Promoter’s liability for (i) fraud; (ii) intentional misconduct; or (iii) for death or personal injury caused by its negligence (including that of its employees and agents)).

5.4 You must indemnify and defend the Promoter and other members of the Unilever group (including their respective directors, officers and employees) in respect of any third party claim that your entry or its use in accordance with these Contest Terms & Conditions breaches applicable laws, confidentiality obligations or intellectual property rights due to your breach of these Contest Terms & Conditions.

5.5 The Promoter is not in any event responsible for:

a. entries lost, damaged or delayed as a result of any network, computer hardware or software failure of any kind or any other event which is either unforeseen or outside of the Promoter’s direct reasonable control;

b. your costs of preparing or submitting an entry.

Winners

6.1 The winner(s) will be notified using the method and within the timing set out in the Contest Details.

6.2 If the Prize is unclaimed after 2 months, the right to the Prize lapses and the Promoter may offer the Prize to a substitute winner.

6.3 The Promoter may (at its discretion or where required by law) provide or publish details of the winner(s) (name and county

6.4 In the event of any uncertainty or difference of opinion regarding the administration of the Contest (including the award of Prizes), the decision of the Promoter is final (this does not remove any legal rights).

6.5 No correspondence should be entered into between you and the Promoter, unless specifically requested by the Promoter.

Prizes

7.1 The Promoter may require proof of identity before releasing any Prize.

7.2 Statutory warranties apply but otherwise the Prizes are awarded ‘as is’ without any warranty, undertaking or guarantee.

7.3 The Promoter’s commitment is to make Prize(s) available in accordance with and subject to these terms. Consequently, each winner is responsible for any and all ancillary matters required for, or arising from, receipt, use or enjoyment of the Prizes. This includes, but is not limited to, any travel costs or expenses associated with attending any meetings or pitch opportunities related to the prize. However, we understand that travel arrangements can be challenging, and we are open to considering virtual meeting options if it is more convenient or feasible for the winner.

7.4 The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for an alternative of equal or greater value. The Promoter is under no obligation to offer a cash alternative.

7.5 If your entry is subsequently disqualified, any Prize granted must be returned at your cost or compensation provided where return is no longer possible.

Personal data

8.1 The Promotor will collect and use your personal data, including your name, email address and phone number. The purpose of collecting your personal data is to communicate with you regarding the Contest and to communicate with the winners regarding the Prizes.

8.2 The Promotor will share your personal data with Innoleaps B.V. located in Netherlands, who will process the personal data on behalf of the Promotor for the same purposes as mentioned in section 8.1.

8.3 The Promotor will process personal data in accordance with its privacy notice, which can be accessed via https://www.unilevernotices.com/privacy-notices.html.

Publicity

9.1 Winner(s) will, at the Promoter's reasonable request, participate in publicity relating to this Contest. This may include winner(s) being filmed, photographed and/or interviewed by the Promoter or on its behalf. The winner(s) grant(s) the Promoter a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licensable and transferable licence to use, reproduce, distribute and make derivative works of such footage / photographs / testimonials in any media and through any media channel.

Miscellaneous

10.1 If other language versions of these terms are also made available, the English language version takes precedence in the event of any inconsistency.

10.2 Each provision in these Contest Terms & Conditions is severable. If any provision is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court or other competent authority, that invalidity or unenforceability will not affect the remainder of these Contest Terms & Conditions.

Governing Law and Disputes

11.1 This Contest (including these Contest Terms & Conditions and any related dispute) is governed by and will be interpreted according to the laws of the country in which the Promoter has its registered or primary address as stated in the Contest Details, except to the extent of mandatory laws applicable due to the location or nature of the Contest, Prize or relevant entrant.

11.2 Without restricting anyone from seeking injunctions or other temporary relief in a competent court, if a dispute arises the courts of the country in which the Promoter has its registered or primary address as stated in the Contest Details will resolve the issue, except to the extent you have the right to resolve a dispute in the courts of other jurisdictions due to the location or nature of the Contest, Prize or relevant entrant.
